1st Annual Left-Eye Music Fest

On Saturday July 28, 2012, The 1st Annual Left-Eye Music Festival was held at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts Center. Kids to adults filled the center to celebrate the life of Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes. The Kids Concert, hosted by the spirited OMG Girlz (Interscope), was the first of three shows and includes performances by New Kn.E.R.D.S., (LLF), tween sensation Domani (“T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle”), Cymia (Cash Money Records), and Gabbie Rae (Purple Ribbon Kidz).  Next up was the tribute performances hosted by Lisa's breakout group Blaque, that included performances by Internet sensation Alix Lapri, 112's Daron Jones, and So So Def's Dondria, Ejypt, Rude Boys, and Lisa's younger sister Reigndrop Lopes

The event was closed out with The Talent Showcase which provided a once in a lifetime opportunity for up and coming artists to perform in front of experienced industry executives offering input and advice on their performance, stage presence, and image. Shanti Das (star maker/Founder of Press Reset), Kawan “KP” Prather (Ghet-O-Vision), Ian Burke (BurkeStone Ent), and Kyle Young (Kyle Young Designs) offered invaluable feedback on the performers. One act received a recording package at UNI Studios and another was chosen to perform later this summer at Shanti Das' ATL Live on the Park, a summer music series held at Piedmont Park.

The Left Eye Music Fest (#LEMF) was envisioned by Lisa’s younger siblings Ronald and Reigndrop Lopes to commemorate Lisa's legacy of art, creativity, opportunity and health.  The annual event will rally fans and music lovers from local and national communities to offer a philanthropic & interactive live media experience to the masses, in Lisa’s honor.

“It's not just about her being an artist. It's about the contributions she's made as a whole and also the positive impact she's made on people's lives,” said Ronald who manages the Lisa Lopes Foundation.

Philadelphia native Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes was most widely known as a member of hip-hop/Pop/R&B super group TLC.  The group skyrocketed to success in the early 90’s selling over 50 million albums worldwide before Lopes’ tragic death in a car accident in Honduras ten years ago.
