Mizani and Host Kim Coles presented 2013 trends in NYC

MIZANI, the professional authority for all curl textures, debuted its 2013 trend styles, “The Spoken Word,” at the L’Oréal Academy in New York City on February 26, 2013.

The evening event was hosted by actress and comedian, Kim Coles (“Living Single”), and included a LIVE performance by Atlanta spoken word poet, Abyss (“HBO DEF Poetry Jam,” “BET J Lyric Café”) and music by DJ Amanda Seales (VH1). Attendees included R&B recording artist Olivia Longott (Love and Hip Hop). Melka Davis, MIZANI’s Director of Global Marketing, was on hand to unveil the trend hairstyles.

The MIZANI design team is known for their innovation in styling and forward thinking when developing their annual trend portfolio. Through poetry and artistic expression, MIZANI has captured the true essence of natural hair with its 2013 trend, “The Spoken Word,” bringing to life four out of the box creations that will inspire naturalistas to embrace their natural tresses. The MIZANI design team has mastered alternative techniques that are fashion forward, yet wearable for the naturalist’s ever-changing lifestyle.

“The inspiration for ‘The Spoken Word’ was drawn from the individualism of the natural hair movement,” said Melka Davis, Director of Global Marketing for MIZANI. “As we know, the naturally curly client can tend to be quite a ‘product connoisseur.’ Our looks promote the versatility of MIZANI products in meeting their various needs. Our looks convey the lifestyle, confidence and unique self-promotion of those that embrace their naturally curly hair.”
