BareMinerals Launches Liquid Foundation

BareMinerals is coming out with a liquid foundation. After kicking off a mineral-powder frenzy 20 years ago, they've figured out how to make a liquid that's as ideal for sensitive and acne-prone skin as their original formula.

Like the original, it has barely anything in it: no alcohol, no synthetics, no fragrance, no bonders, no water. But rather than being only minerals (which don't exist in liquid form), it is mineral pigments suspended in a water-like substance called coconut alkane.

"This was the only ingredient that didn't dilute the brightening ingredients and also didn't clog pores," says Sarina Godin, vice president of product development at BareMinerals.

It also has skin-brightening vitamin C (the water-free formula keeps it stable, says cosmetic chemist Ni'Kita Wilson) and plant stem cells. And thanks to the ingenious brush, you don't have to touch it with your fingers.

BareMinerals BareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation launches May 1.
