The best place to de-stress during the pandemic: your bathroom!

Nearly half (45%) of adults in the US report that their mental health has been negatively impacted due to worry and stress over the COVID virus. With predictions for more of the same this fall--  A home spa-cation - without a reservation or big price tag - can be a great option. Here are three steps for enhancing your home spa experience from the co-owner moms of South of France Body Care, Molly Vollmer and Katherine Jarnigo:

1) Streamline your schedule
Prepare ahead by planning your night in so you can truly dedicate at least a solid hour to pampering. If there are still kids in the picture, darken their rooms, read them a bedtime story, give them a little head rub, and lull them to sleep. Then, dim the bathroom and light a candle to create your own spa experience.

2) Identify your “personal scentsory enhancer”
Most women are classicists, purists or escapists at heart. Let your personality guide you to the right scent experience. Classicists tend to gravitate towards the timeless appeal of a floral scent. Heady or lightly botanical, different florals induce distinct “scentsory” responses such as the de-stressing appeal of lavender or the soothing impact of gardenia or rose. Purists may prefer the crisp stimulation of a citrus scent like lemon verbena or orange blossom to lift or shift their mood or energy levels. Escapists gravitate towards an adventurous, indulgent scent that leverages ingredients like almond, fig or green tea for a more exotic response. After focusing on which scent resonates most for you, experiment pairing your dominant scent with a secondary scent for a more layered experience.

3) Keep things simple
Luckily for your budget, a rewarding spa experience can be as simple as just three products. Start with a soap to cleanse and then follow with a sugar scrub to soften and polish. Finally, provide your skin all-over moisture with a luscious hand and body cream. Above all, keep it easy and focus on your scentsory response to learn what works for you.

South of France bars, sugar polishes, and hand and body creams are readily available from Amazon.
