Against my better judgement I attempted to watch THEM on Amazon Prime yesterday. Per IMDB -- A Black family moves to an all-white Los Angeles neighborhood where malevolent forces, next door and otherworldly, threaten to taunt, ravage and destroy them. For me I didn't even notice any "malevolent forces" I instantly felt triggered, to the point that I stopped on episode seven and I'm unsure how I made it that far. But, here we are. I don't want to give any spoilers but this show is simply out of touch we suffer with racism everyday so who wants to sit through TEN episodes of it. The ONLY reason I wanted to watch THEM is because I love horror and thriller films/shows but the only thing this series did was evoke anger and pure frustration. Where is the beautiful story telling that I witnessed in Lovecraft County, GET OUT or even US???? By Episode two I wanted to throw my phone at the TV and EPISODE FIVE is despicable. The ONLY moment I enjoyed was when Lucky slapped her Karen neighbor for calling her a NIGGER in front of her daughter. whew chile !! That's a slight spolier but you will still feel the same gratification as I did in that moment. This is a short review but I had to share my thoughts -- cause we deserve better. I'm tired of seeing the struggle. MORE BLACK JOY AND EXCELLENCE PLEASE!!
