Dark and Lovely Presents Harlem Fashion Row for S/S 2013 Collection

For S/S 2013, premiere ethnic hair care leader Dark and Lovely partnered with Harlem Fashion Row, an organization dedicated to increasing opportunities for emerging designers of color, as the hair sponsor for their 5th Annual Runway Show. Celebrity hairstylist Keith Campbell led the charge to create hairstyles for renowned designer Kevan Hall and emerging designers Nzingha Knight and Ashtyn. Additionally, 2012 Dark and Lovely Fashionista winner Tomecia Blake had an opportunity to walk in the runway show.

Keith Campbell quotes on the hair inspired by the S/S 2013 runway collection.

"Nzingha Knight – This look was inspired by Muslim attire.  I was aiming for texture, volume and curl in an up-do.  Sort of a Greek goddess look.  I curled the hair really tight all over and then set it with ten curls.  When it was time to create the style, I slightly combed out the curl without compromising the curl.  I then proceeded to very lightly back-combed it and then pinned the hair.  We used rubber bands to create a wave shape. A fairytale hair moment."

"Ashtyn – The garments were African-inspired.  Designer Latisha Daring wanted texture.  I used three loose braids going back into a chignon but pulling out several pieces to create an "undone" look. "
