For Prabal Gurung’s Spring/Summer 2024 Collection, the designer was inspired by the concept of “West Meets East” breaking down stereotypes and hierarchies, fostering a richer, more inclusive cultural conversation.

The prints and colors draw inspiration from the designer’s travels in Nepal and India, derived from vintage Indian woodblock designs. Additional prints evoke memories of the wallpaper at his grandmother’s house, featuring abstracted flowers such as poppies and lotus blossoms.

Silhouettes and fabrics celebrate the timeless elegance of this heritage while embracing the practicality of the present. Metallic and natural linens are fashioned into loose, flowing silhouettes that effortlessly dance with the wind on balmy days.

THE MAKEUP by James Vincent: Inspired by the strength and determination of Serena Williams and her ability to change history, this look celebrates individuality and the women who change history. With a nod to 90's fashion and hip hop we worked to deliver looks that are strong yet soft at the same time. Every look brought out the features and beauty of each models face and personality. 

 

The look here was more matte and polished. TwinMedix Vitamin E paired with TwinMedix Moisturizer primed and prepared the skin with a softer matte finish. Going more matte means you need to add in light and TwinMedix Under Eye Cream helped to hold product in place longer while diminishing puffiness and fine lines for a softer look. Blush, bronzer and Danessa Myricks Dew Wet Balm brings shine and shape to the face. Eyes were matte shades of taupes, browns and beiges with black liner and lashes that added drama. The lip finished the look with a strong lip line and gloss.

NAILS BY KISS - NYFW SS19 - Christian Siriano

Inspired by the perfect Hawaiian dream vacation, Christian Siriano’s Spring 2019 Collection brings the spirit of the island to life with bold tropical and animal prints, playful brights and textured details. The show transformed New York City’s Gotham Hall into an avant garde paradise.

“I wanted the collection to feel playful, colorful, bright and romantic with femininity but still powerful and exciting,” notes Siriano.

Lead Manicurist for KISS Products, Inc., Gina Edwards, transported models to Siriano’s fantasy locale by creating an exotic nail look for the show using the imPRESS Press-On Manicure Medium Length Nails in Black as a base. NaturallyCurly presents Texture on the Runway '18 at NYFW

 

NaturallyCurly hosted their signature event Texture on the Runway on Thursday, September 6^th during New York’s Spring 2018 Fashion Week. Retailer Sally Beauty returned as the retail sponsor for the innovative runway show that puts textured hair front and center. This year’s event was also a celebration of NaturallyCurly’s 20^th anniversary. The media company has been at the center of a two-decade revolution that transformed the way the world views curls, coils and waves.

Hosted by NaturallyCurly co-founder Michelle Breyer, and recording artist and breakout star of Love & Hip Hop Miami Amara La Negra, seven top texture brands showcased their take on texture down the runway. Tracy Reese RTW SS18 NYFW with Cantu Beauty

 

Yesterday, Cantu took the NYFW stage again at Tracy Reese’s SS’18 presentation. The show was inspired by the message that ‘Every Woman has a Story’ and featured a mix of models alongside real women. During the presentation, each woman shared what made them unique, what they believed in, or what inspired them – all in their native tongue. The beauty look embraced individuality enhancing each woman’s multifaceted personality. 

Hair How To: Understated Blowout 

Inspiration: Embracing the texture of each woman, we wanted to create a simple yet wearable style that allowed the fashion to be the main focal point. 

Hairstylist: Bok-Hee for Cantu

        Step 1: Start by spraying roots and lengths of hair with Cantu Refresh Dry Co-Wash for a clean, conditioned base.

      Step 2: Next, spray hair with Cantu Thermal Shield Heat Protectant and blow hair out smooth using a round brush.

·         Step 3: Once hair is smoothed out, use a 1 ½ inch curing iron to create subtle curls at the lengths. When finished, loosen up the curls with your fingers for a more subtle wave.

        Step 4: Lastly, mold hairline around the part and face using Cantu Extra Hold Edge Stay Gel to stand up slightly.

Sandy Liang Spring/Summer 2018 Collection

 

For her tenth collection, Spring/Summer 2018, designer Sandy Liang continues to approach her brand’s downtown roots with new, playful interpretations of nostalgic narrative, and elevated experimentation with shirting and all-year transitional outerwear. Liang also introduces color-blocked oversize knit polos, floaty eyelet and lace paired with her hallmark statement leather jackets and neck-cozying shearling. Piece by piece and collection by collection, Liang builds strong through lines in her clothes that reveal a consistent understanding of her girl, as well as the riffs and subversions that make her girl reminisce and smirk. 

The SS18 collection plays with tensions in material and embellishment: The Bayside Fleece updates the classic layer-able outerwear with an elegant, luxury jacquard pocket, while dress cuts in the collection reference both strappy garter belts and updated school uniforms. Denim in the collection is embellished with clustered Swarovski crystals, as well as metal loops that originated as nipple jewelry offering a clever nod to punk aesthetics. Work and play combine artfully in the Corbin Belt, which is part garter, part hardware tool belt. 

Tailoring is central to the collection: exciting shirting has gaps with girly peeks of skin, a leather apron is closely fitted as a kind of spare outerwear designed with a kangaroo pocket. The Wells Denim Jacket is artfully designed to hang via a long halter from the shoulders, achieving a kind of enviable forever-slouch. 

Liang’s subtly wry references are woven through the collection with inventive humor. For Spring, she customized the Lit Print, which features polka dots mixed with tiny rainbow lighters. Gel-filled floral decals grace the bib of lace dresses, a touchable element balanced by the movement of ruffles and black sheer ribbons. Oversize denim is designed with deep pockets marked with a subtle “xx”-- referring to the way so many women sign off their e-mails.

Tracy Reese FW ’17 presentation x Cantu

Cantu took the NYFW stage again at Tracy Reese’s FW ’17 presentation. The show featured a mix of models paired with inspirational real women displayed through out the beautiful rooms of the 632 on Hudson location. Using Cantu products, lead stylist Bok-Hee created a style of opposing forces with a sleek crown while the ends featured the natural textures of each the women to embrace their own style.
