My Top Picks for Spring/Summer Foundations

As the seasons change and the weather warms up, it's essential to switch up your foundation game to achieve that perfect, fresh-faced look. In the realm of beauty products, finding the right foundation that provides coverage without feeling heavy can be a game-changer. Today, I'm excited to share my top three favorite spring/summer foundations that have earned a permanent spot in my makeup routine: Fenty Beauty's Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint, Danessa Myricks Beauty's Yummy Skin Serum Skin Tint, and Maybelline's Fit Me Matte+Poreless Foundation.

1. Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint in 20:
Starting off with Fenty Beauty's Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint, this lightweight formula is a must-have for those looking for a natural, blurred finish. Perfect for those warmer days, this skin tint provides light to medium coverage that evens out the skin tone without feeling heavy or cakey. What I love most about this product is its buildable coverage, allowing you to customize your look from a sheer glow to a more polished finish.

2. Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Serum Skin Tint in 12:
Next up is Danessa Myricks Beauty's Yummy Skin Serum Skin Tint, a true game-changer in the world of makeup. This serum-like foundation effortlessly glides onto the skin, providing a dewy, radiant finish that screams summertime glow. Infused with skin-loving ingredients, this skin tint not only evens out the complexion but also nourishes and hydrates the skin. Whether you're going for a natural look or a full-face glam, this product has you covered.

3. Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless Foundation in Spicy Brown:
Last but not least, we have a classic favorite that never fails to impress—Maybelline's Fit Me Matte+Poreless Foundation. Ideal for those with oily or combination skin, this foundation delivers a matte finish that controls shine while minimizing the appearance of pores. The lightweight formula feels comfortable on the skin and provides long-lasting coverage that withstands the heat and humidity of the summer months. With its wide range of shades, finding your perfect match is a breeze.

In conclusion, these three foundations have secured their spots as my go-to picks for the spring and summer seasons. Whether you prefer a natural, dewy look or a matte finish that lasts all day, there's a foundation on this list for everyone.

Quick Makeup Tip Of The Day

To avoid mascara from clumping, roll your wand against a clean paper towel before applying (avoid tissues, which have fibers that can make their way onto your eyes). Also, be sure to remove that extra glob of mascara at the end of the wand; it can cause clumping.

Put on your mascara by rolling your hand up and away from your eye to help separate lashes as you go. Finish by combing a clean mascara wand through lashes.

Meltproof Makeup Tips for Summer

The temperature is rising in Atlanta and I wanted to share a few tips to prevent makeup meltdown this summer.

Stop the Shine: I use Murad Oil-Control Mattifier Moisturizer to control oil and shine for up to 8 hours

Next Up Foundation: Think of it this way: The less you put on, the less there is to slide off
I use Dream Matte Mousse by Maybelline coverage is long-lasting and lightweight. I follow up with MAC Skin Finish Natural to set the Foundation.

I add a little of NARS Taj Mahal Blush and Cover Girl TruMagic The Luminizer to my cheeks to give me a little glow then I'm out the door.

Jourdan Dunn Is the New Face of Maybelline

The British supermodel has been named the newest spokeswoman for Maybelline New York.
"It is an honor to be a spokesperson for such an iconic brand," the British beauty says in a statement. "I am proud to say that I am a Maybelline girl and hopefully I can make people feel the same way I did when I saw the advertisements growing up. The brand imagery is always beautiful and positive. To now be a part of that is a dream come true!"
Her first campaign will be for Maybelline's Go Extreme mascara, with her beauty ads arriving sometime this month.

Beauty Files: Maybelline FITme Shine Free Stick + Vision in Violet

Maybelline has engineered a new heavy hitter in the war on shine with their convenient stick format with a lightweight gel based formula with an anti-shine core.

My Thoughts: I used shade 330 Caramel Toffee I currently use Dream Matte in Caramel Dark 2 because that was the only foundation to control my oily skin. Now that has changed with the FITme foundation I'm actually torn because it gives me the same great coverage and matches my skin tone perfectly. This product is very convenient, the portable stick shell is great for travel or carrying in your purse for touch ups. I finished my look with the Color Elixir by Colorsensational in 040 Vision in Violet

Maybelline Color Elixir by Colorsensational

I'm so excited I just received some amazing products from Maybelline and I couldn't wait to try out these beautiful lip shades. I'm not a gloss girl, I'm all the way matte. But this gloss was different first the color elixir delivers this hypnotic look thanks to its angora crush applicator that has an unique leaf shape.

Color Elixir is an one of a kind formula that provides a smooth, shiny finish without drying. Yesterday I went for a natural look and used 065 Caramel Infused and I was very impressed it didn't feel sticky or heavy. It was a soft color and lasted all day. Make you follow me on instagram at username: @itsarkeedah because I will be posting the results of the other shades that were sent to me.

Maybe its Maybelline.....Part Deux

This is my follow up post with my review from the Maybelline products I purchased a while ago. Check out the original post Maybe its Maybelline.

Pictured above: I used the following products:  Dream Liquid Mousse Caramel Dark 2 Air-whipped liquid provides perfecting coverage for 100% poreless skin, I was shocked that I liked this foundation, I rarely use liquid and I was pleased with the airbrush finish

FITme Medium Bronzer allowed me to have a natural sun-kissed finished

Line Stylist: This has to be one of my new favorites I'm not good with Eyeliner at ALL, this makes it easy, you can chose from thick or thin lines easy. Maybelline's PROtip: For a thin line, gently glide liner along your lower and upper lash lines. To build a thicker line, add three to four lines to your original application.  Removes easily with Expert Eyes 100% Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover

Overall: I love these products, the end result was very polished!

Maybe its Maybelline.....

A couple a weeks ago at Shecky's Girls Night Out I was able to receive a personal Maybelline consultation, a specialist picked out an awesome foundation : Dream Liquid Mousse Caramel Dark 2 Mascara: Great Last Mascara and Eye Shadow: Eyestudio in Blooming Blue Target had all of these items on sale and I had a $3.00 coupon provided by Maybelline so it was a lucky day for me! I still have one more coupon left and I think I want to try out the new Baby Lips lip balm.

Stay tuned I plan on doing a review of how I like the foundation, eye shadow and especially the mascara since I rarely wear it!

Beauty Files: Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation

Haven't been impressed by many oil-fighting liquid-to-powder fixes that tones skin, delivers flawless coverage and battles a not so chic bout of shine? (which I fight everyday around lunch time)—but after giving this mattifying product a try, I was satisfied with the results. Made with Non-comedogenic- it won't clog poresI love the Air-soft, perfect matte finish coverage. Found at my local Walgreens for  $9.49

Beauty Files: Maybelline FITme Foundation & Ultra Liner

So I decided to look for an alternate for my MAC studio Tech foundation  I love it so, but as you know MAC can be kinda pricey and its the holiday season and I'm trying to save a little where I can. The winner was Maybelline's FITme Foundation and today I purchased the product with the shade finder it made it easy to find my exact shade which is a "310" The main reason I went with this product is because it seems simple to use.

It's makeup that fits you.
  • No oils, no waxes, no nonsense
  • Natural coverage that leaves skin the way it was meant to be…fresh, breathing, natural
  • Exclusive translucent base and lightweight pigments allow skin's natural highs and lows to show through
  • Non-comedogenic, dermatologist-tested

For Best Results

Apply smoothly and evenly to your face and blend with your fingertips.

Also I purchased the Ultra Liner because i've been trying to achieve this look (below) for a while

I really love the Maybelline site the how-to videos are extremely helpful. I will be posting the results this week...
